I'm THINKING about quitting drinking.

try it with no commitment, like Tonight I Am Not Drinking, and see what it's like?
not even a rough night at all, quite the opposite! I went to Making Time and only had ONE drink the entire night, and really enjoyed myself WITHOUT being drunk. it was pretty great actually.
@sarah: maybe. but like ... i quit eating meat cold-turkey and was fine with that. i dunno. tonight will be a test since im going to a BBQ ... and they have home brew.
This seems like a good experiment, but I doubt I could do it for very long.
And whenever I meet someone who doesn't drink, I always wonder why. And not in a merely curious way, but in a "what could be wrong with them?" way.
How about installing a drinking budget, at something like $10 a week? You might be able to get a nice bottle of white wine for that money and get a glass with several meals.
Thing is, $10 x 4 = $40 a month. For some people, that's a cell phone bill.
i'm really most concerned about unnecessary spending at this point, and alcohol is fucking expensive and it's been a cost i've mentally written off for most of my adult life. Can I realistically do 1 or 2 bottles of red wine Per Month?? That is not much. But I think it might be what I end up TRYING. I am living 100% off borrowed money for the next year and a half so ... yeah.
You can buy a decent box of wine for $20, that's equivalent to 4 bottles. But I'm not talking about that Franzia crap. Go to a real wine store for it.
Stop drinking during grad school? UNPOSSIBLE. I can remember most of my grad school stuff better when I drink because I drank when I studied. I think you've witnessed this before at your friends house.

it's expensive and no good for me. Maybe I will first try just limiting to red wine? Red wine is good for me.
