So I never graduated, and I'm about 30 credits shy of getting my BA in English Lit. Should I go back to school for that or just go in a completely different direction, like Nursing. Also I have to find a school that fits into my budget, and my time...I work like 45 hours a week.

Also on the agenda: finishing this yoga teacher training, buying a car, being able to pay all my bills...I just feel so overwhelmed
fuck those people
that said, having a piece of paper is nice for the resume, so if you want a better job, then I say polish off the English lit degree
Thanks.
The odd thing is the friend who says this to me is working on their masters, and she makes less money then I do. Even when she finishes her degree she will still make less then I do.
It's a fucked up world.
I did have a plan at one time, but when you've gotta support yourself at 20 years old...you just have to take what you can get.
I hear ya. I never got a degree either. It was always the plan, but having a kid tends to sidetrack plans. Now I make more money than most. I'm guessing your "friend" is just a bit jealous about something and using this difference as her only card to feel superior. So like I said, fuck 'em.
@andrewjthomas: I think I love you.
Yeah I'm afraid to have kids. I won't be able to have time to myself anymore.
If you go into nursing, you'll probably be doing a year's worth of pre-reqs before you can actually get in to nursing school, which is about 2 years in and of itself if you want a Bachelor's in Nursing.
If you go the Community College route you might be done up to a year quicker, but it'll be harder for you to get up into management type positions. However, because demand is so great, Com College nurses and Bachelor's nurses start out making the exact same pay.
The pay can vary anywhere from $23-30 dollars an hour depending on where in the country you work, what shift you work, and in what department. It's also pretty easy to get OT and/or moonlight at other facilities a few hours a week for more pay.
I've got my master's in fiction writing, and right now don't make a great deal, but after about 5 years experience in my field (assuming i'm good at it) i should be looking at 6 figures. creative fields tend to have a steep pay increase scale.
Yeah I would go the Community College route, then transfer for a BSN to a Certified Nurse Midwife program.
I just cannot figure out what I want to do etc.
Well, just because you're a nurse doesn't mean you won't be able to still write. In fact, it might give you more to write about.
@JasAsian v2.0: Yeah that's kind of how I view it too, I just don't want to sit behind a desk anymore I like being up and doing stuff.
@Still - oh, you're definitely on your feet as a nurse. Actually, I take that back, you do spend a fair amount of time charting and writing down what you did, but it is still a VERY hands-on job.
This is my real dream

I just don't know if I can hack it.
@JasAsianv2.0: I just added you to me team. I don't why you weren't there before. I remember you from back in the consu days.

Plus I may have to move back to my mom's house in order to continue school, quit my job, get the degree and just go back to working at a job where I will make less then what I make now.
SO confusing. Plus I am just tired of some people making me feel less of a person because I don't have a "degree".
