Uh. Andrewjthomas, I don't think you understand what KMFCM is talkin' about here:

1. Feminists are not about either being elitist conformists or about being non-litist nonconformists. They're not even a "subculture." They're people bound together by a particular political theoory. Same for environmentalists and Democrats and Republicans and Libertarians. What the hell is the "libertarian subculture"??? Unlike, say, goths and punks, who depend on there being a "conformist mainstream" to rebel against for their identity, political groups would be quite happy to BECOME the mainstream, and strive for it.

And ren faire people and larpers? They're just people who enjy something! Like say... knitters and brewers and cooks.
They also don't much care if they're conformist or not, or if they're elitist or not. I don't know of anyone who started going to Ren Faires because they felt the non-ren-faire world was too elitist or conformist.

And if you've met any elitist hillblillies, I'd love to know them.

What I'm saying is, your lists are embarassing.
