i like doctors without borders. so why am i so angered by them telling me that every time i ask to be taken off the postal mailing list, it only lasts a year?

when i started sounding edgy with the woman who told me it only lasts a year, she gave me a number to call to get it taken care of permanently. the number turned out to be the national do-not-call registry, which has nothing to do with addresses or mail.
i don't know why i hate mail so much. i think it's just that i hate physically throwing things away, or the idea that resources are being used/spent to produce and deliver things i will throw away (aka recycle). i'm kind of silly that way.
Fortunately, I have a social secretary, so I never have to look at any item of mail that I'd rather not read.
i think they're not violating any laws because they're a non-profit group. it would be different if they were trying to sell me something, but otherwise people don't have any legal right to not be bothered (so long as the bothering is quite distinct from harrassment).
If you directly ask someone to stop sending you mail, they have to comply except for things they are required by law to send you, and you can demand they send those to your attorney instead. The non-profit thing is only relevant if you're talking about a generic do-not-mail list that commercial entities are required to honor.
i hate mail too. i really is a terrible waste of resources, and it clutters up the kitchen counters, and most of it is useless anyway.
political mailers piss me off
They make me not want to donate or register to vote, they are so excessive.

they have been so persistent in sending me mail, no matter how many times i beg them, "email only, please!"
