I just became an uncle for the first time. Please suggest ways in which I can guide my little niece into a life of awesomeness/interestingness.

@Erin - Yeah I'm certainly planning on being the outrageous, culturally immersed, arty uncle. Heh.
tell her action-packed, hilarious, not-too-scary stories before she goes to bed. do lots of singing and dancing and making stuffed animals talk. let her be cranky when she must. laugh at her jokes even when they don't make any sense.
According to my 4 year old:
"You should take them surprises all the time. Mainly candy. And take her places on your ship so she can go somewhere new..."
Oh wait. That's specific to Saxon... my brother's in the Navy. Soooo find a ship and take her around the world ;)
Congratulations new Uncle.
Play lots of games with her. Let her sit on your shoulders. Pick up interesting leaves off of the ground and give them to her as a present. Help her to try new things like berries and honey and anything that is fab on the tastebuds.
When we're younger all our tastebuds are new so we taste EVERYTHING, especially sweet things, and as we get older they die and then sugar becomes less fun.
Let her have icecream for breakfast sometimes. Give her lots of hugs. :) Oh and I"m forgetting adventures! Trips to a backyard tree count as an adventure, but you have to make it exciting by adding a fantastic story to it. You seem like you'll be a swell Uncle. I'm super happy for you.

Hang out with her and be kind.
Take an interest. Really take one; spend time with her.
Do all the things your awesome uncles and aunts did. Or don't do the things your lame uncles and aunts do. That's it. It's like anyone else in your family, really.
