I find it next to impossible to reliably right click the stupid Apple mouse. Mac fanboys seem to be able to do it, but I can't.

when I squeeze the sides, I get Apple's cheesy clone of Windows Gadgets. Except that I can't pin one of these Apple widgets to the desktop. Useless!
I've come very close to buying one of those mice, just for the tiny scroll ball. But I can't do it - mice suck. I wish my Kensington Turbo Mouse had a better way of scrolling. Or that Apple would make an external multi-touchpad like the one in my MacBook.
If you aren't careful, you'll be squeezing the sides of the mouse every time you move it.
Or maybe it's just me. I hold the mouse between my thumb and ring/pinky fingers(with index and middle on their respective buttons). When I move the mouse, I tend to squeeze the sides. It seems to give me more precise control
@soulcamp: someone should make a mouse with a small touchpad instead of a scroll wheel.
the not-so-mighty mouse? the trick is to lift up your index finger...
or just buy a new mouse. haha.
Get a Microsoft mouse. Microsoft makes wonderful input devices for use with my Mac and Linux boxes.
Just buy a fucking mouse with a right-click button. They make those, and they're cheap.
I'm the sort of communist that gets paid lots of money for helping Wall Street run the global markets.
He, Centro, can you have them raise the Fed interest rate a point or so?
i'm surprised by the number of tech-savvy people who eschew control/right-click on macs. so handy.
i'm in love with my "expert mouse" 4-button + scroll-ring trackball. when i click the bottom two buttons simultaneously, it plays/pauses my itunes. swoon.
ctrl+click is a little bit of a pain, i have my trackpad set to double tap= right click, and then i have a REAL mouse when connected to my desk.
Trackpad tapping is the worst idea in the history of user interfaces.
Love my logitech laser mouse. Standard 4 button-wheel set up, but the wheel can click side to side too.
@centro: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We are soooooo on different planets when it comes to computers. I think multi-touch trackpads are the greatest innovation in user input in the last 10 years. I LOVE my multi-touch trackpad on my MBP and wish I could get an external one.
Unless, of course, you are referring to tapping the trackpad in lieu of the button. That shit is retarded.
@centro&soulcamp: i think i'm the only person on the planet who likes trackpad-tapping clicks, but i really do (on the rare occasions when i actually use my trackpad). i have never clicked accidentally, and i prefer not having to cram my hand into the right position or constantly move my fingers back and forth to use the button.
@soulcamp: yeah, I'm referring to tapping instead of the button.
@le_sacre: when you only use one trackpad ever, it's okay, but when you use several different trackpads regularly, each with their own sensitivity, it's maddening.
@le_sacre: My former business partner used to like trackpad tapping. Every time I would use his laptop, I would be inadvertently moving shit around the screen - usually during a presentation to investors.
I'm a huge fan of trackpad tapping, my fingers are already on the trackpad, no need to move!
More advanced species that possess thumbs can use those to click while tracking and typing with their other fingers.
@centro: good point above. but some of us with long fingers find that keeping thumb over button while finger is over pad is cramped--especially on an airplane, which seems to be the only place i ever use the damn thing.
I long ago gave up trying to use my computer on airplanes. Maybe someday when I can afford to fly first class.

Be careful about squeezing the sides as well.
