Anyone here played D&D in the last 5 years? Anyone looked at 4th Edition?

I've played pretty much every edition of D&D from first on up. Well, I haven't played 4th yet, but we will start playing it this summer.
I'm pretty excited about it. They've done a lot of work to make sure that everyone has something to do from 1st level on up to 30th level. I think the direction they're taking it is definitely a good one.
wait your (ex) girlfriend was also the DM? that's conflict on interest man!
Yes to both. 4th is very streamlined as far as character creation goes, and the math works at all levels 1-30. Some things are more powerful than others, but not game breakingly so (with one possible exception, depending on your gm style. It happens at level 30). My one gripe is multiclassing, but I can see why they went the way they did with it.
If you got any questiosn in particular, spit 'em out. I'm happy to spread the word. I've also been helping everyone in my group with their characters, so right know I know more about it all than I really expected to.
not since high school... 2nd Edition had only been out a few years... now I feel old
@twigby: yeah, she was DM, but we were both more about the role-playing and story-telling (non-sexy-way-btw) and one of my friends liked to do things that didn't usually go the way my gf expected or seemed out of character so that caused them to butt heads and put some strain on me.

Personally I owned a bunch of 3rd edition stuff that I haven't used since my old DM-GF and I split and I don't see a reason to upgrade, but I'm curious about it.
