What's the secret to taking pictures of fireworks? Mine all tend to suck. A lot. I do just have a point and shoot. Tips? Tricks? Tripod?

I have a fireworks setting.
and if I don't use that, I use automatic and mess with the white balance and.. something else. I forget what.
I don't use a tripod, but I use a setting that takes 3 pictures, one after another. that helps.
And a tripod helps. This past Canada Day was the first time I managed to take successful fireworks photos.
@ Carlo: Yeah, I don't use flash. I was using my night setting, but it didn't work too well.
Thanks for the advice, lish.
@Deep-Fried Goodness: Congrats! I really love this one of yours: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3281/2631198722_4111d80498.jpg
Thanks. Those are with the manual setting on my camera, I believe a 4 second shutter, and using a tripod.
Here's a good site with a few tips:

No flash. Also, a longer exposure makes for an interesting fireworks picture.
