SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! fleet foxes vs. boris! YOU DECIDE!
Replies
and if you can do the grunt work and find a place where i can download a track or two of them, that would be awesome.
but NO STREAMING. because that is not allowed at work. (and not myspace, 'cause that's not either.)
@rink: gee, thanks! let me know what you think of fleet foxes. and what you ultimately decide!
mmkay...i'm listening to this one track...read a little...fleet foxes is looking promising.
ugh. i wish i could send you the album.
if you're interested in it, i can send it to you via instant messenger tonight. (i don't have my computer that harbors my music with me.)
but yes, they are one of the bands i just really got into.
i do not know Boris
however, I have become extremely fond of the Fleet Foxes in the last few weeks. the new album is in heavy rotation on my various listening devices. I LOVE their sound...
i was just looking in the LA Weekly the other day to see if they're playing soon, and i think i might've missed 'em...
i'm broke as a joke so i'm missing them in philly.
i'm real pissed.
@ogr: oh, sadness!! that blows. and, aw, thanks for the offer of sending the album! though i only have internet access at work (speaking of things that blow), so i'll have to pass. but i'm babysitting my brother's kid tonight, and he might have some of their stuff, so i might raid his music collection.
also, @garak: but LA! surely they'll be back.
with nc, i'm always afraid they'll never come back... though i suppose it's better where i am in nc now, rather than where i used to be. but still.
true 'nuff. i hope so! i do feel lucky to be in LA, where bands'll play Amoeba Records (even though it's so cramped in there sometimes i don't like going to see bands there), or various smaller venues. like the Troubadour, which i love. although lately i've become addicted to Hotel Cafe. i just saw that Sigur Ros is coming in October, and while that seems like an infinitely long time away - i dunno if i'll even be in town when they're here - but i've missed them the last two times and feel like i have to at least try to get tix.
and, yeah, Fleet Foxes...ya gotta go! and tell me how the show is/how they sound live! so i can be all jealous-ish!
Are you kidding?! FLEET FOXES!
PS: Take me too, pleasepleasepleaseplease?
I have seen Boris, and they were great. Their records make them sound kind of doomy and slow, stoner rock, but they rocked the goddamn house. The drummer is this insane caricature of a rockstar, the guitarist is this quiet woman who just riffs like a demon while hiding out in the smoke and the bassist/singer...well, he's having a good time. The songs just felt amped up.
I haven't heard Smile, but want to; Pink is a great record.
I haven't ever heard of Fleet Foxes, but am interested now.
Ew, no internet? That does blow!
Of all the days for me not to bring my computer to work! Le sigh!
But it is a record worth buying. If not, you can probably find it on the web.
I just listened to it in the store. Ha!
I kinda like Boris and I've only just downloaded Fleet Foxes so I can't comment.
I guess it depends what mood you're in. I mean, Boris will melt your face. I get the impression Fleet Foxes are a LOT more mellow.
Rink, I know you can't get on myspace, but I was trying to find information on Boris, and I assume this is NOT him/them:

(i just bought my tickets, because i got an e-mail from the ownder of the venue saying they were about to sell out.)

so, basically, i have two concerting options for this sunday.
