Man, do I love soundtracks. That is all.

i was borderline obsessed w/them for a long time
part of me probably still is, i just have so many now that the quest to locate the ones i don't - the surprise of finding a gem amongst cutout racks, or discount bins or whatever - has sort of gone away.
still, i used my job to totally geek out last week and score myself a pile o'soundtracks
@booknutdc: what is that site? Reviews of awesome soundtracks? Man, I wish I'd paid attention in school and actually learned a foreign language.
@Garak: I'm a little bit obsessed - a friend of mine still mocks me for how excited I was to finally find the Last Unicorn soundtrack. It's rare, dammit!
But what is this job that allows you to score the soundtracks?
@flyingfishstick - i'm a producer/executive. i got a call last week from an agency about placing a composer on our latest movie - something i get to do some of, as my boss knows i'm a huge movie score/soundtrack nut - and i was like "say...while you're at it...you should throw such-and-such a score in that package you're sending me, as i'd love to hear it". s'all about the perks! i used to get many more at a previous job, where they were literally throwing this stuff away...
and, re: the LAST UNICORN soundtrack --- nice! i love me some America, man! (i used to hum that theme song all the time)
Eleven years, while browsing thru a record store in San Francisco, I happened upon a cassette copy of the soundtrack to "The Transformers." Man, that was a happy moment.
And now 'Don't Stop Me Now' is playing on my Yahoo radio ... best scene in 'Shaun Of The Dead,' right there.
"you got the touch..."
i rewatched the TRANSFORMERS Movie prior to the new live action one and was just amazed at how, despite its entertainment value, that soundtrack is just so bizarrely sprinkled atop that movie
The epilogue to my happy discovery: senior year of uni, before every test, I'd listen to "The Touch" and "Dare" to psych myself up. Never scored lower than 80 percent the whole year.
Damn double post!
@BoyArt: was that the scene with the jukebox and the synchronized whacking?
@flyingfishstick - i knew a guy who blew a guy...
i've worked for this one producer for five years, i was recommended thru a friend, and the producer folded his smaller indie operation into a larger indie one, which was pretty great for me all around
Fishsticks: Yup, the very one. At the time I said it beat the "Bohemian Rhapsody" scene in 'Wayne's World.'
Dude, I want to make soundtracks. I always find myself thinking "this song would be so great for a montage scene".
Too bad I can't afford film school. I'll just have to write scripts and leave the fun shit to other people.
i do that all the time.
endless "Soundtrack Mixes" for projects i'm working on, projects I'm writing myself, the "perfect theoretical movie that only exists in my mind," etc.
but so many of the songs i've liked over the past couple've years keep getting used on shows and movies. (my latest was Bon Iver's "re: Stacks", which apparently was on HOUSE this past year, which i don't watch)
You should start. House is really good. I mean any show whose theme song is Massive Attack can't be all bad.
@Pagne - true! i just found out it was "Teardrop" over the weekend...s'a good choice for a theme song

they are pretty great
