my friend that used to live in clinton hill, carried a skateboard with him at all times, and used it to beat muggers away from him and his girlfriend. they really didnt see THAT coming.
@ Skanko : I don't really remember much about it, as I was extremely drunk. A couple of guys bundled me into a phonebox and took my shit.
@ Carlo : Ordinarily I would be inclined to do the same but I was in no fit state to fight back. Plus there were 2 of them. My throat hurts a little where they had me by the neck, but I'm otherwise totally fine. I'm mostly satisfied it turned out so well for me. Plus it's a nice day, clement weather.

congrats....i typically only get mugged while I am sleeping....lucky me.
Though congrats on getting your stuff back. Its a horrible feeling getting mugged...I got mugged 2wks ago....of course while sleeping...*sigh* cursed narcolepsy

@ erica : I live in the drearily bland, alcoholic-filled suburbs of Hertfordshire, but I got mugged in Central London, Charing Cross Road to be exact.

@ Hurricane Medina : Yeah, it makes for a strange experience. I am treating it as a cautionary tale. I would be foolish not to take heed.
@ DannyPriapism : Yeah I've always thought myself likely to tell anyone I thought I could handle to simply fuck off, or just hit them, but as I was shit-faced, there was a guy with his hand around my throat before I sobered up enough to know what was going on. I was in no fit state to be starting a fight with two sober guys more accustomed to acts of violence than I am. I thought it wisest to just try to avoid getting hurt. I still can't remember if they were armed or not, maybe I'll find out at the trial.
@ Jubilee! : Calm down m'dear, you seem so distraught. There was no real harm done and having had no involvement in the crime you really have no need to apologize.
@ bizzy : I'm guessing that they maybe got more than they deserved in one way; I didn't know how much money I had on me before I was mugged but I didn't get any back from the police.
Also I think only one of them might be getting charged (though I could be wrong) so one of them could be getting less. C'est la vie.
@ flyingfishstick : Not sure if there were actually any blows, I didn't have any bruise or pain in places that couldn't have been caused by falling over or just being bundled about. I was pleased to escape without any major injuries too.
The muggers got away with.....nothing. Because they got caught like a minute later and I got all my stuff back.
Pahahahaha.
