I have a ton of them, and I need to make a serious decision.

Some people contend that they're flattering, some don't. I don't know. Sometimes I think they look all slimming and great, sometimes not. I also feel like I'm dressing up as a businesswoman when I wear them.

I'm going to need to wear serious heels.

I love mine. It's all about what you pair it with if you're worried about looking all businesslady in it. But in general, you do look more put together in one than say jeans.

err, not like that. shut up.

Yeah, I love them but they do have a certain...look. I still think it's good to have a few.

Yes. Yesyesyes.

I LOVE them. Except some of mine are so tight I can barely walk. But they are lovely and give you a classy slim line, and look both sexy and professional. Plus I love that 50s secretary vibe they give you.

That said, I don't know how well they'd work on hippier figures. So I would guess they're not for everyone, but then what clothing item, part from t-shirts, really is?

Centropomus said, (198 days ago)

I think they look a little silly on women who have hips.

lostblancmange said, (198 days ago)

I love 'em.

Jubilee! said, (198 days ago)

I have hips. This may be an issue.

Salomea said, (198 days ago)

It depends on how your hips look in them. For instance, girls with NO hips at all do not look good in them either. As per example:

...Not sexy.

Moderate curvy hips, on the other hand, look awesome:

You don't really want to look like a stick, you know? You want a tulip shape.

It only begins to look a bit odd on the really pear-shaped figures.

When I think about it actually, no-hips probably looks worse in a pencil skirt than a lotta-hips.

I love the tulip plaid one.

I have pinstripes, suede, and dark sailor denim detail and a couple others I have yet to uncover. When I get my camera back I will post example pictures and lay myself at the mercy of the fashionistas.

when you are hippier (as i am), the best way to avoid pencil skirt faux pas is to wear it higher waisted. if it's not high-waisted, you tuck a cute blouse and get a wide belt.

also a hippier person should stick to vertical pin stripes or solids IMO.

we can discuss this further, you and i.

i love a good pencil skirt.
