Wow. The closest thing I've seen is a year. This woman died on the toilet and no one missed her. Her neighbors also failed to smell her decomposing body. By the time the ME found her she was totally skeletonized with her legs on the floor and pelvis on the toilet. The top half of her had collapsed into a pile next to the toilet. It was fucking surreal.
I have a feeling that missing persons aren't a big priority for Croatian authorities.
@katymonster: It's pretty baffling that they wouldn't have checked.
Though I'm not sure that police on the other side of the Iron Curtain were ever that scrupulous about finding missing persons.
@Pagne: Your story, also fucking bizarre.
I didn't think that bodies skeletonized that quickly, though.
I guess it was communism and she didn't need to pay rent? I'm pretty sure they'd break-into my place after two months of no rent.
@CM: In the desert a body can completely skeletonize in 7 days. By contrast, an body that has been enbalmed and buried might not completely skeletonize even after 100 years. A coroner in Lousiana disinterred the body of a civil war solider from an unmarked grave and before they closely analyzed his clothing it was thought that he was a recent murder victim.
Am I the only one who finds these stories FUCKING FASCINATING?
Maybe I'm a secret internet necromancer.
@Pagne: Thank you. And may I say (though I know it's your job and all) it's really freakin' cool that you know that sort of thing.
@Johnny: Dude, I do this for a living. You're not eh only one.
@CM: Thank you. It is really freakin cool. :)
We should form a band of seven and call ourselves the seven deadly SINs.
Made me wish there was a documentary crew, possibly with Geraldo, filming the discovery of the 1966 time capsule.
and do you know what? during that entire time, there was absolutely nothing on!
I seem to remember hearing this story a few weeks ago, but it added that the neighbours finally asked people to check in because they wanted her apartment
That is just the most bungest shit. Typical Croatians.
And yes, before people go off at me for being a racialist, I do know a few Croatian people.
@ Johnny - SINner fits you.
@Bustie and Pagne - yea, I'm sure missing persons wasn't too high on the officers list. But still....whoever reported her missing? They never came by her house? Noticed a smell?

I feel rather sad for her. Dies at 42 and no one notices.
