Moving tips. GO!

(seems obvious, i know, but i thought i could keep packing while they moved stuff out...but moving out takes less time than packing.)
i heart copy paper boxes for moving, personally. they're a good size--not too big, not too little--and they have lids and handles. so if you work in an office, i would start collecting them... i wonder if kinko's or staples gives them away maybe?
and i don't have enough stuff to warrant renting a truck really. especially since my dad has a pick-up. that was plenty, with the addition of a few cars.
I saw someone suggest using clothing for packing material, and I thought that was a genius suggestion.
I rented a truck when I moved last, and it was a great idea. I also made sure I had enough $$ for pizza and beer for everyone who helped me move.
You can find bunches of boxes at offices, just start taking them home as you go.
And as rink said; get everything done beforehand. Really. Nobody likes having to move and pack at the same time, and if people are helping you out, it just seems obnoxious.
Packing material as in to keep the dishes from breaking? Intriguing...
Thanks for the tips Rink and Superion!
Day laborers! $10/hr and they are the hardest working men I have ever seen. We had these two little guys, had to be about 5'4 or so, lifting and packing like little machines. Take them to lunch and the 10/hr is a suggestion, we gave them $80 a piece and lunch for a few hours work.

if people are helping you move, have everything ready for them to take BEFORE they arrive at your house.
