I just finished "Rapture Ready! Adventures in the Parallel Universe of Christian Pop Culture" by Daniel Radosh, and continue to plug away at "The Yiddish Policeman's Union" by Michael Chabon.

Just finished "Boy Meets Boy" by David Levithan. It's a silly teen novel about a boy who has boy troubles. It was very light and fun.

After finals are done, I'm going to read "Lettes to a Young Poet" by Rainer Rilke.

lesse, just started Neuromancer... that dude has a plastic fetish...

also reading The Final Solution by Michael Chabon, and Big Sur by Kerouac.

I just decided to read more and now I'm reading three, heh.

smoke signals is great.

at the moment i'm reading a fairly trashy paperback, "the sleeping doll" by jeffrey deaver. hey, the man can construct a decent plot.

More's Utopia, Rousseau's The Social Contract, Vonnegut's Galapagos. Would recommend all three, but not at the same time.

Hey look, it's a new guy. Let's all stare at him.

Previous Toast said, (89 days ago)

“Man looks in the abyss, there's nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.”

The Commanding Heights, which is about how governments shaped economies post WW2-near present times. The Savage Garden, which is about a young man's adventure to Florence and involvement in a family murder mystery. And then a whole bunch of shitty, shitty books, the worst of which is Talia Gryphon's (nice pseudonym, dude) Key to Conspiracy. It's the first book in 10 years that I have refused to finish.

I'm about 3/4 of the way thru Heinlein's "Stranger In A Strange Land," the uncut edition. I understand why some of this shit had to be cut. PAGES AND PAGES OF EXPOSITION THEATER, criminy.

Just finishing (finally) "The Alchemy of Love and Lust", which I HIGHLY recommend, and am beginning "The Call of Cthulu and other Weird Stories" by H.P. Lovecraft, because I've read so many imitators without ever having read the originals.

I'm trying to read "The Crying of Lot 49." Really; I'm trying! I'm just finding it quite difficult to get and remain engaged and wondering if I'm not academic enough to read Thomas Pynchon.

Jeepster said, (89 days ago)

I had the same problem with The Crying of Lot 49.

Right now I'm re-reading "The Sun Also Rises" and "Skinny Bitch"

:P

Xenu said, (89 days ago)

People keep telling me to read "Skinny Bitch." Maybe I'll try and find it. Also, thanks for the feeling of book solidarity (did you finish it?).
