What are you trying to do with it?

lamebrains said, (143 days ago)

HTML strictly or WYSIWYG?

If it's just for HTML and you just want syntactic or semantic highlighting, go with Programmer's Notepad

Are you on Mac?

If you want a good html editor (not wysiwyg) go for Taco HTML. I love it.

PC. WYSIWYG if possible. Nothing fancy, and I have enough trouble sticking ancient languages in my head so I don't need to learn a lot of complicated syntax.

Superion: I need to create some basic webpages for classes. Nothing fancy.

And I need to create some for myself, again, nothing fancy.

I believe MS's Visual Web Developer is free for non-commercial use.

For WYSIWYG, our department's tech person proselytizes Nvu. http://www.nvu.com/

I'm not a fan, but I could never get into WYSIWYG webpage editors anyway.

Thanks folks!

Also, nobody writes "HTML" anymore. It's all XML+XSL

Corey Hart said, (143 days ago)

XML + XSL really is how HTML should be generated for data driven apps.

Well, it will be very vanilla information pages with links to resources.

And maybe my CV. That's about it.

notepad++ is bitchin for all your non-wysiwg needs.

Corey Hart said, (143 days ago)

@aart: so static html/no dynamic information?

Oom Mao Mao said, (143 days ago)

Corey: Yup.

Reamworks SKG said, (143 days ago)

What I do is hire a kid to write it for me.

Corey Hart said, (143 days ago)

@art: should be a straightforward HTML job then.

Oom Mao Mao said, (143 days ago)

Reamworks: Til I pull a regular paycheck, I'm not hiring anyone to do anything.

Corey: Yup. Just HTML. Nothing fancy.
