HTML strictly or WYSIWYG?
If it's just for HTML and you just want syntactic or semantic highlighting, go with Programmer's Notepad
Are you on Mac?
If you want a good html editor (not wysiwyg) go for Taco HTML. I love it.
PC. WYSIWYG if possible. Nothing fancy, and I have enough trouble sticking ancient languages in my head so I don't need to learn a lot of complicated syntax.
Superion: I need to create some basic webpages for classes. Nothing fancy.

I'm not a fan, but I could never get into WYSIWYG webpage editors anyway.
XML + XSL really is how HTML should be generated for data driven apps.
Well, it will be very vanilla information pages with links to resources.
And maybe my CV. That's about it.
