Psh.
Homophobic, conservative knuckleheads will vote to amend the state Constitution to ban gay marriage come November. Just you watch.
they probably will, although that's still an important statement for the time being. I'm going to hold out hope that the times are changing a bit and the amendment will get voted down
What kind of vote is needed for an amendment in CA? You might be able to get 50%, but if it needs 2/3 of the popular, I doubt that'll happen.
@Machined: I agree... but I guess that in the wake of Clinton's insane victory in West Virginia (and video of voters explaining why they voted the way they did), I'm kind of unwilling to underestimate the ignorant, discriminatory, bigoted boneheadedness of the American electorate.
but wasn't it the California Legislature that sent a bill to Ahnuld and he veto'd it like last year or two years ago?
he vetoed the bill based on our stupid ballot proposition that passed in 2000 saying that marraige is between a man and a woman, but that didn't actually amend the state constitution. This is a ruling on what the constitution allows, so it supercedes that proposition.
interestingly, Ahnold is against the upcoming attempt to amend the constitution
because we want idiots writing our laws other than the idiots we pay to write our laws
I wonder how different the state would be if y'all SOMEHOW got rid of that insane cap on property taxes.

YES!!
