Is this creepy?

You have a right to be moderately creeped out by it, but I'd look at it more as an inconvenience than anything truly menacing. I had a friend who had the same sort of thing happen to her, and she was a bit bothered by it, but the person eventually just stopped calling. Perhaps it's an elaborate prank?
Whoever they are, I don't think it's so much an interest in calling you and leaving a message than it is an interest in getting weak kicks out of being pocket-manual creepy. An annoyance, to be sure, but probably nothing beyond that.
Um, and by 'you have a right', I meant 'yeah, I guess you're right'...obviously the right is there and yours for the taking. But whatever. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Maybe its the boy whose text messages you weren't returning being uber creepers?
I once got a creepy message with someone breathing down the line and it turned out to be an elderly relative who didn't know how voicemail worked... That's probably not very helpful though.
@ginger: It just always showed up as "unknown caller" - which makes me think it must be a BLOCKED number, which is part of what creeps me out.
@Roland: If I had any elderly relatives still alive, that would be my guess, but since I don't, I'm a little confused.
@Sharon: THAT'S MY SNEAKING SUSPICION!! And part of why I am not answering!
@Hena: Yes, it is.
I've just posted a myspace bulletin explaining my case to my friends. Hopefully it's just one of them who is too lazy to leave a message or something.
I'm more afraid that it's space helmet dude who just still hasn't given up. Or else someone else who I just really don't want in my life anymore and is calling from an UNKNOWN number.
It's certainly creepy, but I wouldn't be too concerned at the moment, especially because there's no real course of action available to you. It seems to me that if this person is really seriously committed to bothering you, and this isn't an idle jerk kind of thing, they're building up on it very slowly. I'd imagine there are several steps between breathing heavily on phones and, say, stalking you or whatever -- and if they've waited long enough to go this far, they're probably not going to get to anything really unnerving any time soon.
Of course, I'm not a creepy guy, so what do I know about their methods? Or, for that matter, their motives?
Just had a thought! Are you sure it's not a creditor of some sort? 3-4 calls a day sounds like a credit card company or something -- I recall being woken up in the middle of the night by one collection agency more than once. (I don't think it's legal for them to do this, but they do it.) And some of them don't allow their return number to be made visible.
Do you have any debts you haven't paid recently?
Granted, this doesn't explain the message, but maybe the system waited a few second too long to hang up?

I have been getting calls from an unknown number for the past week or so. I haven't ever picked up. They have NEVER left a message. The caller is very persistent. At least three calls a day, usually more. The calls are spread out at all different random times. Sometimes in the middle of the night. This afternoon there was a call, and FINALLY my phone showed that they'd left a voicemail.
NO. THEY JUST BREATHED ON THE PHONE AND THEN HUNG UP.
Wouldn't it seem like if you were that interested in calling someone over and over and over again, you'd leave a message???
Am I right to be creeped out by this?
