Take an object and propose a hypothetical burlesque act around it. 1. Knitted pasties. The dancer comes out in a full knitted dress plus knitting needles and un-knits herself out of it during the act. 2. A triangle. Comes with jingle-bell pasties. Not sure how the triangle figures in initially, but I want a musical numbers performed with the triangle and bells at the end!

your first scenario would be better suited to "performance art" because unknitting takes a while and would also be sort of boring for a true burlesque act, since it's so repetitive. but along those lines, i actually do a number to weezer's "sweater song" wherein i unravel my top and then use a tiny scrap i knitted on stage to cover my bewbz.

the unraveling gets unruly. first of all, you'd need to knit the item all in one piece... and then you'd have 95859485987648 yards of yarn piling up around you. i actually have done a lot of research trying to figure out how to have my costume be MORE knitted than it is, without running into those problems. people would be surprised how much logistical planning goes into a good burlesque number!
