Barbara Gordon (Batman/Birds of Prey)

Rupert Giles (Buffy)
Wesley Wyndam-Price (Buffy/Angel)
Cyclops (X-Men)
Winifred Burkle (Angel)
Lucas (the movie "Lucas")
All the Goonies. All of 'em.
Harry Potter
Dr. Gregory House
The geek girl in every "geek girl turns hot" movie, before she turns hot (see, e.g., Rachael Leigh Cook in She's All That)
Oooh, these are all good.
@Heraldic: You know that Lucas was filmed at my high school, yes?
@all: I don't know if all y'all remember that whole "Geeks Guide to Girls" thing I was working on a year or so (or more?) back, but I'm finally bringing it to light but in a slightly different realm. Stay tuned...
@slack: actually, no, no I didn't. That is about as cool as you get. I know that there were a ton of HS movies and music videos filmed at Bayonne HS in Jersey, but I didn't know slack central got the love, too!
LUCAS is one of my favorite movies of all time.
for multiple reasons.
(i've never been more excited than when the score was finally released last year)
i'm still searching for the elusive LUCAS sequel, which was to have starred Robin Williams and has LUCAS working as an entemologist at a museum. no, i'm not making that up.
I think what I liked about the movie is that it flipped a lot of the stereotypes on their heads. The geek wasn't just an outsider with a heart of gold, he had real emotional problems that needed resolution. The jock was a decent guy. The girl recognized the difficult position she was in.
Favorite Geeks?
Kevin Smith (And his various geeky characters)
Joss Whedon (ditto)
The Tenth Doctor (Doctor Who)
Hiro Protagonist (Snow Crash)
Hank "Beast" McCoy (X-Men)
Jack Knight (Starman - the comics, not the movie)
I went back and forth about Hiro Protagonist. Sure, he's a computer nerd, but he's also a ninja pizza delivery guy. I'm not sure he fits.
And I am KICKING myself for forgetting Adams, Kevin Smith, and the Tenth Doctor.
Yeah, I'm kicking myself along with Heraldic. Though I do find myself wanting to watch Ninth Doctor stuff. Eccleston was my boy.
Eccleston was great, but not as amazing as Tennant. I tend to think Eccleston was better as Claude in Heroes than he was as the Ninth.
And crap, I realized I threw a "see, e.g." cite in there without even thinking about. I have become a robot.
@Heraldic: You know, when it comes to Hiro, it seemed to me that he was geek first, samurai second. And sweet-ass car aside, the pizza delivery job screams slacker geek.
@CM: the job does scream slacker geek, true, but that's only until you remember that he's working for Uncle Enzo.
Heraldic: Gotta disagree; Claude wasn't a really compelling character. Especially not standing next to Mr. Bennett.
By comparison, The Ninth, the one directly carrying the guilt of the Time War, had a lot more going for him. If he'd stuck around for another season, I don't think he'd be as lost in Tennant's shadow.
@art: ok, but come on. compared to Mr. Bennett, the only compelling character through season 1 was Hiro. Until Nathan became interesting at the very end. But Claude just had this sense of panache that was all kinds of awesome.
I re-watched some of the Ninth Doctor episodes earlier this week on Sci-Fi. I think I like Tennant more because he's generally happy and can get serious. Eccleston is generally serious, and then spins on a dime to be happy. Better acting? Probably. Better character? Not as much.
Everything Combustible Monkey said.
also: Einstein, Hawking, Galileo, and Da Vinci.
Whoever came up with Ninja Turtles.

@Chrome: That was Kevin Eastman and...Laird? I can't remember the other guy. But Eastman is now married to Julie Strain, so it's like Geek Fantasy come true.
I would say that I've met them both at the party of someone who is actually my first "Geek of the Week" but I wouldn't want to namedrop. ;p
we love you back, Slack.
Name dropping is a time honored tradition, and you should not be afraid of it. I just wish I had actual names to drop.
Yep, Eastman and Laird.
BTW, regarding the Dr. Who thing above: I loved Eccleston, but there is no denying that Tennant's Doctor, with the suit and the gee-whiz-isn't-THAT-fascinating manner (when he's not pissed off) is the geek.
Dead Geeks:
Richard Feynman, Doug Adams, Stephen Jay Gould, Mr. Wizard
Living Geeks:
Harold McGee, Natalie Angier, Nicholas Kristof, Carl Kassel, The Tappit Brothers, The Mythbusters Duo, Paul Alivisatos
Yeah, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Though I think only one of them is involved in the franchise now (but I forget which one).
I just saw Iron Man, and want to proudly add Jon Favreau to the list.
