I'm turning 30 in two days. Congratulate me here. Also, convince me 30's not old. :) Really, I know it's not.

Yay for 30 year olds!
I turn thirty in 2 years...and I'm totally looking forward to it...hopefully it will be better then my 20's.
i hate it break it to you buddy, but 30 is fucking old. and it only gets worse. your body stops working right, you can't remember shit that just happened, and your ability to rebound from injury or ailment--both accidental and self inflicted--is in serious question. welcome to the first day of the march toward death.
i'm 20... and i feel old.
i think after 18, you are old and you just get older, so...
embrace it.
for your thirtieth birthday, do something cool-old, like wear a smoking jacket and drink a glass of scotch whilst reading a fine novella.
@stark raving: Thanks, amigo. Already got most of that already, actually, so no big deal.
@wordnerd, you have no credibility. i've seen pictures of you. you're not 30. you're parents lied to you to get you into school early. hate to break it to ya.
but don't worry, you'll be old and broke down like the rest of us soon enough.
@Stark Raving Brad: brown power! it's the anti-aging secrets of my people. I will cry sad, bitter tears the day I stop getting carded.
Happy Birthday, dude. Doin' anything for it?
I think I will piggyback on the being convinced that 30 isn't old, what with mine coming up in a little over two weeks.
My 30's have been WAY more awesome than my 20's. Still, as 38 looms closer and closer, I'm starting to realize that I'm getting into a demographic that I'm not entirely comfortable with....
30s were the best decade. people around 30 seem like children to me. and that description by brad of the body breaking down... that's pretty much the 40s. sigh.
Happy birthday - I've been 30 for a few months now, and lemmetellya, it's no picnic. I mean, it's great, I feel wise in the ways of the world (suspiciously like I felt at 18), but at the same time, though I think Stark Raving Brad may be exaggerating a wee bit, I will agree that once I hit thirty, I felt like my body was starting to break down, and not build up. Still, I do relish the fact that I'm young enough to do whatever I want, and old enough to know better despite that.
34 is coming up. i dont like it. i never would have thought that i would have been one of those people that had "issues" with their own aging
Happy Almost Birthday! I assure you the 30s are the best decade. All the equipment still works AND you don't need to keep referring to the owner's manual as much anymore. :)
@all: Thanks much.
@Combustie: Welcome to the ranks of almost-30. Yeah, going to Jazzfest with my lady. Fly out tonight, actually.
@Imago: Ah! Yes, of course! You'd told me about that. Dude, hope you have a great time.
@Hoyden: Not really. I've just been particularly age aware for the last year or so. My birthday is coming up, and it never really gave me pause, but as I get closer to 40...
also, the last person I dated had issues with me having so many female friends, both online and offline, who were in their early 20's. Made me a little self-conscious.
But when you get up there, I'll hook you up with my friends Kalina and Mike. They are delightful, cuddly, geeky, and will take you to the best pubs.
Well folks, 30 feels about like 29. Except I might feel odd hanging out with 20 year olds. Thanks for good wishes.

Thirty?
Wow.
I was born 3 hours after Apollo XIV launched. I was reading before you were breathing. But, I'll bet you've read more books than me. You are dating a writer and I wallow in redneckish foppery.
Keep on keepin' on, brother. 30 is just the beginning.
