Has anyone here done the South Beach Diet? Experiences? Results?

i did the first two weeks of the south beach diet a couple years ago and lost eight pounds.
@ Heraldic55: Ah yes, I start that one in about a week. All study no fun. But I still need something to maintain that level of self-punishment during the summer. So why not diet?
@lawgirl: it's a rough two weeks- cutting out anything with sugar, basically, and anything white. i ate spinach and beans boca burgers. but man, did it feel nice to see the weight drop.
My parents did, and it worked well for them. It's not as extreme as Atkins, but that's kind of the point.
I lost a good 14 pounds on it, but as soon as I let up and started eating normally again, I gained almost half back. I should do it again and try to never stop eating in that fashion... it's just... HARD.
Well, sounds like no one has had a bad experience with it. I think I'll give it a shot this summer. That and running. I do need to start working out again.
Any low carb diet will kill your pounds but you will starve and starve hard. The trick is to see that piece of cake or a cookie and not go after it. I am on the Passover diet, but this year I have managed to eat a lot of potatoes and ice cream.
I should also say that eating less dairy will also do the same trick. And definitely start running because its awesome.
Be careful with these diets...losing, for example, 8 pounds in two weeks is an awful lot. not mortally perilous, so to speak, but it's fairly extreme. cardio, as always, is the best way to get the metabolism going, and I agree with Lady Oracle here...just avoid the shitty food. It becomes pretty easy after a while. Now...alcohol...that's a bit harder.

No, but I have done the "OMG FINALS ARE COMING" diet where you forget to eat. THAT killed about 15 pounds.
