Hillary Clinton just proposed using nuclear weapons against Iran as a deterrent on Keith Olbermann. WHAT THE FUCK?!?

And why would she want to deter Keith Olbermann? He's kinda awesome.

But I see what you're getting at and I hope she was fucking joking 'cause that's insane. More insane than even Bush.

Seriously - Olbermann asked her what she meant by her comment in last week's debate of a "massive U.S. retaliation" against Iran if they attacked Israel. She said that the next president should go back to using the deterrents of the cold war era and utilize nuclear weapons as a threat. She said she would make it clear to Iran that a nuclear attack on Israel would provoke a nuclear retaliation by the U.S.

Yikes.

i've got it tivo'd. she's a straight up nutbag.

@Combustible: It was clearly not a joke. She was serious. And yes, this is even more insane than Bush or McCain (though still not as insane as Cheney).

I'm trying to see how this policy would somehow deter Iran, North Korea, or any country for that matter, from trying to become a nuclear power. Wouldn't this give any country a legitimate reason to pursue nuclear weapons as a way to defend themselves against an attack by the U.S. This would also provide China and Russia more than adequate excuse to become a supplier to their allies who feel threatened by the U.S.

As Brad said, she's a fucking nutbag!

Your assessment is pretty much spot-on.

At least she didn't repeat that on WWE Raw tonight.

oh, jesus christ.

She's CRAZY! We should nuke Iran *before* they nuke any one.

She must have recently seen the Kevin Pollack film Deterrence, perhaps while researching Presidential conduct. While I think it unwise to use this as a base for foreign policy, it might make her more appealing to Republicans.

@Reamworks: Right. If we're gonna use nukes, might as well do it right. None of this, "I'll do it if you do it" bullshit. We're leaders, not followers!
