Today I went to the mall and found a really weird store. 579. As in, "we carry sizes 00 0 1 3 5 7 9." ... I understand plus-size stores and petite stores, but does anyone REALLY need a store JUST for sizes up to 5-7-9? Isn't that... most stores anyway?

Man, if it wasn't for the 9, you could say they're targeting a prime demographic.

Also, their manifesto, as given on that site, is all sorts of dreadful.

"The target age group is the 13-22 year old. She lives in the suburbs and comes from a middle & upper income background and uses malls as a social meeting place as well as a place to shop. They hang in the malls. [They? What happened to "she"? Tch tck, crappy copy editing.] They prize individuality and believe that the clothes they buy, the places they shop, the music they listen to, the sports they play, their very attitude toward life demonstrates their unique style and values.

[But of course they call can all be summed up by a neat "target group demographic."]

5.7.9. feeds the teenager's vision of what they believe their life stands for. [I love how the word choice here implies that 5.7.9. is merely humoring these teenagers at best.] 5.7.9 provides its customers with an assortment of looks and brands that comprise the rapidly changing junior high, high school, and college 'uniform.'"

"Uniform!" ha-ha, take that, "unique individuality!"

Wow. That's all kinds of absurd.

I was going to say certain stores/brands don't have odd numbered sizes, but now that seems even more irrelevant.

No no, you see, junior clothes is numbered in odd sizes, and women's clothes in numbered in evens. Since they're catering to juniors, this makes sense. It's just the... weird emphasis on the numbers, and which numbers are fittingly trendy enough for their store model, and which are not.

Here is their webpage, la.

On the bright side, at least it's not called 013, right?

I dunno, at least if it was a store selling 000 00 0 and 1, I'd kinda get it. I had a Japanese friend who was too tiny for even the small-sized clothing here. It would be an extreme, and so a niche market. But 3-5-7-9 is not extreme, and there's no shortage of clothing in that size...

3-5-7-9? That's the same combination as my luggage!

if it's the same place I'm thinking of, I did use to find good dresses there. And dresses that I like are aggravatingly difficult to find.
