I wish I could help.

Tonight was my weekly visit to my bar with the girls. One friend and I stayed ridiculously late, as usual. So late, in fact, that we weren't terribly far down the sidewalk when the bartender came out of the bar and locked up. The three of us had unknowingly parked on the same side street, so we all walked and chatted. We get to the bartender's car first and realize his window had been busted. We check our cars (right behind his) and they are fine. It's raining lightly and we refuse to leave before the police get there. He's frustrated, the police take the report, and my friend and I refuse to leave until he does. We give him hugs and we all drive off in our respective directions.

 

I feel so useless. I wish I could do something. Anything to cheer him up or make him feel better about the situation. Not that there's anything that can really do that, but just let him know that I care and I want to help if I can... But really, what can I do?
