Possible new GT! Homepage design. Thoughts?

I think I might make the links and the essays look like the topic area.  and I think each little content block needs a little headline.  And each type could link off to a page of just that type. 

Keep in mind that this is just an experiment.  This is not the final design.  This is just a sort of design direction.

But uh, what do you think?

Another Toy: Field of Dweebs

I always think of online communities as virtual places.  This is a cheap and dirty experiment to see if basic visualization of that idea could be achieved.
