Posted 3 days ago | 5 commentsOur roommates are offended that my brother and I would write them a pleasant note on our dry erase board asking them to please clean up their dishes (by which we mean, rinse them and put them in the dishwasher) (and which I should add have been in the sink for three days). We had to write a note because we never see them. Apparently asking "could you please clean your dishes?" merits a 300 word response about how we need to stop nagging them and that they don't have to do anything for us. What do we even do?

Fiction Critique, HALP!
So I'm reading the latest story up for workshop in my class, and it's not like it's...bad, writing wise. But it was written by this perfectly nice, unassuming freckly white girl. And the story...it's about a Saudi Arabian girl dealing with the death of her mother and opression in Saudi Arabia. I mean, I'm not saying she should write a story about something that exactly happened to her, but this situation is just so clearly far removed from anything she's experienced, that it rings really false. I'm just trying to figure out why she would have chosen to write a story like this. It's just...awkward. It's like she read the Kite Runner or something and was like, it worked for that guy.
So I don't really know how to critique this.
Also, it's in 14pt font. WTF?

Of the 20 or so I got in return from my classmates, about 75% are about the death of a parent, grandparent, spouse, sibling, or friend. So about a death in general. WHY?! Death does not ALWAYS equal profundity. I'm sad for humanity.

It's huge and it makes really loud buzzing sounds and it makes an audible noise when it flies into things. AND my brother is not here to kill it for me! And now it's in my closet vomiting on my clothes. EW EW EW I don't know what to do.
