Some people bet badly that their Pets.com stock would be worth something. In a complicated maneuver designed to beat capital gains tax, they took a taxable event by "exercising the options" but then tried to hold them to get them into the long-term cap gains catagory. if the stock tanks, they're still on the hook for this tax.

WELL, after years of saying BOO HOO HOO, congress decided to slip something into last week's Bailout Bill to bail out FAILED DOTCOM SPECUVESTORS

You all should be OUTRAGED

We'd have another 770 Billion Dollars if George W. Bush didn't sign into law the biggest middle-class tax giveaway in the Nations History!

In 2007, George W. Bush signed into law a bill that eliminates income tax on forgiven mortgage debt. (Outrageous! This is income like any other.)

There's 2.2 Trillion Dollars of bad Mortgage Debt.

If we collected income tax on the forgiven debt, the U.S. Treasury would have another $770 BILLION dollars (35% of 2.2 Trillion)!

Why not make the homedebtors pay for the trouble they caused?

Sure, Wall Street is sleazy, but I'm sick and tired of hearing protesters on TV say "Wall Street doesn't deserve a bailout--WE do!". If you people had PAID BACK the loans you agreed to, Wall Street wouldn't be in trouble!

Neither Wall Street nor deadbeat Homedebtors deserve a bailout, and a bailout won't help the economy...it will just prolong the pain.

Why not at least make an attempt to collect as much money as possible from deadbeat homedebtors before asking We, The People, to cover for other people's HELOC'd Hummers, Granite Countertops, and McMansions?

I went to the bank Friday to buy I-Bonds. Guess what the base interest rate on I-Bonds is now:

0%

That's right! They're now selling 0% bonds!
